The brand new 2015 Mahindra Bolero pick-up was done to support the Foundation’s movement at empowering girls to code and create technology across the country. It happened on September 10.

This generous donation by Svani Global Limited is part of series of socialinterventions celebrating their 25 years of service. The company is known for operating in motor import, servicing workshops, leasing and rentals of vehicles, generators and equipment business in West Africa.

Soronko Foundation is a not-for-profit which runs a popular project called Tech Needs Girls. Tech Needs Girls is a mentorship program run by young female role models who are either computer scientists or engineers and they teach girls to code, lead and innovate.

They currently have 30 mentors and 500 mentees who have weekly coding classes in different regions.

The girls they train are 6-18years and are from low income families. Learning to build websites, mobile applications, blogs and problem solving through learning human centered design are the core areas the girls focus on.

They also get the opportunity to intern at top software and technology companies in Ghana and have been featured on CNN, Al Jazeera and other major global networks.

The keys to the Mahindra Molero were handed over to Regina Agyare, founder of Soronko Solutions at the Svani Limited Offices in Tema by Thomas Svanikier, Executive Chairman of Svani Group.

He commended the mission of the Foundation, indicating that the empowerment of women was crucial for nation building.

He also believes that Svani Global Limited and other companies in the service and industrial sector would greatly benefit from having a skilled workforce in technology creation. Svanikier stated that it is pertinent for the foundation to be supported to deliver on its mandate

Regina Agyare, Founder of Soronko Solutions, receiving the keys to the vehicle, thanked the company for their support. She also stated that the donation will enable the Foundation to take the program to other regions and rural communities to impact more girls.

Currently, the Soronko Foundation has travelled to five regions including the Greater Accra, Volta, Ashanti, Central and Upper West. They have made sizeable contributions to each of these regions and impacted 2065 girls.
